Job Title: Software Development Engineer –OnTap Compre
Job Summary: Member of a software engineering team responsible for developing an archive solution for the secondary storage market. This specific position is a system level software development position working on Data Ontap
Essential Functions:
• Work as a member of a team on projects involving existing as well as new storage appliances.
• Participate in any/all phases of a product development cycle: from product definition and design, through implementation, debugging, testing and early customer support.
• Participate in H/W vendor selection.
• Participate in technical communication with other! parts of Network Appliance including customer support and sales.
• Work collaboratively with other engineers, and be willing to take on any engineering tasks that contribute to the progress towards the goals of the team and the company.
• Coordinate activities with managers and engineers in different groups and other engineering disciplines.
• Act as a technical advisor and resource to other engineers.
• Interact regularly across functional group boundaries such as Marketing, Customer Satisfaction, Manufacturing and Materials.
• Works independently with customers on resolution of technical problems.
Requirements:
• 5- 8 years experience in the architecture, design and development of file systems technology, operating systems software and data storage.
• Must have designed and implemented device drivers
• Must be able to debug PCI/PCI-X bus traces
• Must have strong background in operating system internals in general. !
• Very strong algorithms, data structures and multi threaded programming expertise are required.
• Proficiency in C and excellent debugging skills are required.
• Must have working knowledge of file systems and Unix storage architecture
• Must have demonstrated working knowledge of major system components.
• Must have full commitment to sound software engineering practices and a passion for quality.
• Must have a proven record of meeting tight deadlines without sacrificing quality.
• Strong communication skills are essential, both written and oral, targeted at a wide variety of internal and external audiences.

Education:
Minimum BS CS/CE or equivalent, with at least 5-8 years experience in the architecture, design, and development of file system technology, operating systems software and data! storage.
