PAST EXPERIENCE
Chairman-cum-Managing Director of MECON Limited ( Schedule ‘A’ Company under Government of India, Ministry of Steel), the premier organization providing Consultancy, Design, Engineering, Contracting and Project Management Services including Turnkey Execution of projects in diversified sectors in 35 disciplines from 1st November, 2004 till 31st May 2005
Also Managing Director of Metallurgical & Engineering Consultants (Nigeria) Limited, a joint venture company formed by MECON Limited in Nigeria with Delta Steel Plant, Ajaokuta Steel Company and Nigerian partners.
· As Chairman of the Board of Directors of MECON, led the business of the company with a turnover of over Rs 3000 million with more than 20 offices spread all over India.
· As Managing Director of Metallurgical & Engineering Consultants (Nigeria) Limited, was responsible for growth of business in diversified sectors in Nigeria/neighbouring states. Specifically with respect to cooperation with Nigeria, MECON Limited, India and MECON (Nigeria) Limited have been associated with the Steel Development Programme of the Government of Nigeria since 1976. These two companies have been intimately associated with providing project management and technical services for setting up of Delta Steel Company, Warri and Ajaokuta Steel Plant, Ajaokuta.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
§ September 2002 to October 2004

As Director (Engineering) w.e.f. 3rd September, 2002, fully responsible for the entire engineering functions of the Company including Civil, Structural, Architecture, Mechanical, Project Planning & Quality Assurance, Management Advisory Services, Environmental Engineering and Corporate Planning. In addition, incharge of projects being executed for SAIL units at Rourkela, Durgapur, Bokaro, Vizag Steel Plant at Vizag, NINL and KMCL projects at Duburi, Construction Management of aluminium project of Sterlite Group at Korba.
§ February 1998 to September 2002

As Deputy General Manager/ General Manager, was fully responsible for turnkey execution of Rs. 250 crore External Coal Handling System for North Chennai Thermal Power Station of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board encompassing :
i) Co-ordination with Client, consultant, site contractors, local administration/environment, various vendors supplying the equipment.
ii) Site management including contract, finance, industrial relations.
iii) Civil and structural work, fabrication, erection of plant and equipment, testing, commissioning and handing over the project to Client.
iv) Planning, co-ordinating, monitoring, controlling the engineering, procurement, manufacturing and site progress based on L-3 network developed in Primavera software package to ensure completion of project in quality and in time.
v) Developed ‘Project completion Plan’ for TNEB project which was appreciated by external (TUV) Auditors for implementation of ISO : 9001 Quality System and circulated to all offices as model Quality Plan.
vi) The project was successfully commissioned in time and in cost in the year 2001

As General Manager of MECON, was nominated as MANAGEMENT REPRESENTATIVE by the Chief Executive for maintenance of Quality Management System in Head Office and other projects/site offices.

§ February 1986 to February 1998

Effectively assisted four successive Chief Executives in the management of MECON. During this period, successfully built-up “Management Information System” for Chief Executive and effectively participated in Corporate decision making; Monitoring of important projects including cost control; Chief Executive’s communications with Ministry, Directors, and Senior officers, office-in-charges and different heads of various sections at Ranchi; Part of team which helped MECON in getting ISO 9001 in 1993; Scrutinising and approval of Chief Executive for placement of high value orders, Management of Clients, VIPs visiting the organisation including delegations from abroad as well as follow-up of decisions taken by Chief Executive with other Functional Directors. Was also instrumental in helping the Chief Executives in their endeavor to diversify MECON’s activities in equipment design in various high tech areas, which brought significant gains to the company in the form of enhanced design capabilities. During this period, also assisted Chief Executive in Formation of Consortium and Joint Ventures with Overseas & Indian firms for joint participation in projects as well as for procurement of new business in diversified field of operation of MECON both for Consultancy assignments & Turnkey Projects.
§ February 1971 to September 1986

15 years’ work experience in design, manufacture, erection of various hot and cold rolling mills. This includes one year specialised training in design & manufacturing plants of M/s. Wean United (now Danieli-United), Pittsburgh and one month’s deputation to M/s Scholemann Siemag SMS( now SMS-Demag), Dusseldorf, Germany during execution of Light & Medium Merchant Mill for Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
Was deputed to Tube Products India-Chennai, Nagarjuna Steels Ltd., GKW-Calcutta as well as Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd., to sort out design / erection related problems of rolling mill equipment designed and supplied to these Customers.
Had led the Design Group for complete design of 2nd Phase Cold Rolling Mill of Nagarjuna Steels, Wire Rod Mill of Mishra Dhatu Limited, Modernisation (1st Phase) of Rourkela Hot Strip Mill.
§ January 1970 to Febrary 1971

Plant training at Bhillai Steel Plant ,Steel Authority of India Ltd.

§ Participated in ”Advanced Project Management” Programme conducted by IIM, Ahmedabad in August 1998.
§ Attended Advanced Management programme on “Project Management” conducted for Senior Officers by Ministry of Programme Implementation.

§ Only Mechanical Engineering Graduate of 1969 batch recruited by SAIL (earlier Hindustan Steel limited) at Bhilai Steel Plant earmarked to be placed in MECON (then Central Engineering & Design Bureau) after the plant training.
§ 15th months’ orientation training in Bhilai Steel Plant after which deputed to Ranchi in MECON ( the then CEDB)
